What It Takes To Be A Lighting Designer: Ask the Professionals
Creativity is crucial to all event professionals, especially lighting designers. The right lighting can transform your event from boring to exciting. That’s why having a professional lighting designer is so important to make your event stand out.
Lighting designers have a mix of artistic talent and technical knowledge. They must understand lighting instruments, lighting computer software, graphics, color theory and rigging. It’s also important that the lighting designer meets with the client to understand the event’s concept, goals, agenda and lighting approach so they can plan how they will integrate lighting into the event.
Lighting is one of the easiest ways to impact the look and feel of a meeting, conference, trade show, concert — or any other type of event. Whether you’re having an outdoor event, a large corporate event or a music concert, it’s important that your lighting designer choose the right lighting solution for your event and venue.
Our staff at Wired Production Group is incredibly fortunate to have one of the most creative lighting designers in the Midwest on our staff. We’d like to introduce you to lighting designer, Jesse Snyder.
In the spring of 2017, Jesse was invited to join the Wired Production Group crew as our second full-time lighting designer. Jesse was introduced to the event production industry by his childhood friend and one of our audio engineers, Ian Miller. Jesse had many years of experience in the AV production world through his work at Heritage Church in Rock Island, IL. He transferred his knowledge to our scope of work and adapted to our company culture very quickly. He never looked back since.
Jesse is known not only for his impressive eye for lighting, but also for his cool, calm demeanor in the warehouse as well as his kind, caring attitude with our clients. With his good heart, Jesse is able to adapt to the needs of others and consistently puts our customers’ needs first. Our management team receives compliments about his positive attitude and strong skill set from nearly every client he works with. While he walks around in shorts almost year-round (even when there’s snow on the ground), we never second guess him because he always knows where he’s supposed to be and what he’s supposed to be doing…and he’s always doing it with a smile on his face!
Outside of work, Jesse is definitely an outdoorsman. He enjoys family vacations that include traveling anywhere there is an opportunity to camp, kayak, or venture somewhere new. His family is spread all across the United States, but he is proud to call Cedar Rapids his “home” with his fiancee, Amanda, and soon-to-be step-kids, Addison and Reese. Jesse has their wedding date set for April 27, 2019 — just a few weeks away! It is only fitting that they got engaged last summer in Colorado while on a hike. Our crew wishes Jesse and Amanda the best on their upcoming nuptials and sends lots of love their way as they start their new life together.
We are very proud to call Jesse a part of our WPG family, and we sincerely appreciate every little thing that he does to grow our company and help us succeed every day. Thank you for everything that you do, Jesse! You are our hero!
