For more than 25 years, Wired Production Group has been a proud supporter of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance serves over 1,200 member businesses and organizations in the Cedar Rapids metro area. They stay focused on their mission to drive economic, workforce, and population growth strategies to help businesses and organizations in our community succeed.
Every year, the Cedar Rapids Economic Alliance hosts many events for member businesses and the general public. These include, but are not limited to, BizMix networking events, Cedar Rapids Restaurant Week, Cedar Rapids Farmer’s Market, Market After Dark, Hiawatha Business Summit, speed networking, groundbreaking ceremonies, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, business support programs, and two of their staple events: Good Morning, Cedar Rapids, and their annual meeting. Good Morning, Cedar Rapids!
Since 1992, Cedar Rapids has celebrated local businesses and community leaders at this Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance’s annual breakfast gathering, Good Morning, Cedar Rapids! This special event showcases small, homegrown businesses’ impact on the community with fun entertainment, live music, and other surprises led by the EA leaders and popular local emcees. Hundreds of community members in attendance leave this event feeling energized and excited about what’s going on and growing in the Cedar Rapids area.
This early morning event brings a classic stage design with special uplighting to showcase the sunrise that this bright event represents. Over the years, a variety of entertainment has been a part of this event, including poets, live bands, dance groups, and artists. Wired Production Group looks forward to providing stage design and audio production services to complement these entertainers every year.
In 2020, the event was moved to a studio format with a Facebook livestream. This production included multiple videos created for business spotlights, live streaming services, and graphic design animation for the live event playback. Since the move back into an in-person event in 2021, the morning event has grown in popularity and continues to grow.
“There was no one ‘right way’ to execute a virtual event during COVID. The Economic Alliance communications and events team considered all of its members and their event experience expectations for GMCR, and they worked hard to find a platform that worked for them. Facebook was that platform. They’ve brought [the event] back to a live show, and I think it’s obvious that their member businesses and organizations appreciate it even more now than they did before the pandemic.”
Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance Annual Meeting
The Cedar Rapids Economic Alliance hosts its signature Annual Meeting in the first quarter of each year. At this event, valued member businesses gather to celebrate the past year’s achievements in the community and learn about the goals for the year ahead.
The Annual Meeting has evolved over the years to include special video presentations, unique keynote speakers, and recognition of area businesses and business leaders who collaborate to unify the Cedar Rapids community. Attendance has grown with this event in recent years as more organizations are actively involved with the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. Wired Production Group has been thankful to provide event production services, including staging, lighting, audio, video production, and live streaming.
One of our team’s favorite parts of this event is helping develop the stage design to align with the Annual Meeting’s underlying event theme each year. The theme is built around the messaging for the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance’s event. While it’s uncommon for attendees to understand the theme going into the event, it’s important to the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance to ensure that their messaging is clear and their event design supports that. Our creative team enjoys building around this theme, from concept to stage design to video elements to event execution.
