In April 2024, Wired Production Group provided event production services to ChildServe and its 14th annual fashion show fundraising event, Bubble Ball.

“The Bubble Ball is ChildServe’s signature gala – and one of Des Moines’ most unique events! Designers, artists, and other creative professionals debut their bubble wrap creations as part of a themed runway show production and a gallery of stationary designs.”

ChildServe is an Iowa-based nonprofit organization focused on improving the health and well-being of nearly 5,800 children each year through specialized clinical, home, and community-based programs and services.

Through Bubble Ball, funds raised make an impact on each of ChildServe‘s locations and services through the annual fund. In 2024, proceeds from the event were also focused on the ChildServe Homes Program to assist with renovation and maintenance projects. These homes providing an enhanced home environment for each child’s behavioral, medical, and physical needs across Iowa.

Over the last nearly 15 years, ChildServe’s annual fashion show fundraiser has continually raised its fundraising goals to serve its mission and elevated the event production to keep supporters entertained at the big event.  The iconic runway show has raised millions to support ChildServe locations and services.

Every year, Bubble Ball is designed with a unique theme in mind. In 2024, designers created their bubble wrap creations to showcase centuries worth of fashion designs with this year’s theme, Iconic Eras. Most of the costume designs were created by Dornink Couture to complement the theme collectively and incorporate musical performances. There may have even been a small nod to Taylor Swift in this year’s fashion show (hint: watch the video to see what we mean!).

This year, Bubble Ball was presented by Dotdash Meredith. Bubble Ball played a special role in helping Dotdash Meredith celebrate People Magazine’s 50th anniversary through iconic celebrity styles incorporated into the fashion show fundraiser. To help elevate the fashion show and align it with the People Magazine style, our creative services team, led by Nick Coso for this event, designed a one-of-a-kind LED display on a custom 10-foot tall and 62-foot wide LED screen.

“I’ve loved watching Bubble Ball evolve over the years. I was excited to help create a design for the show that incorporated the ‘Iconic Eras’ theme this year. It was a really cool concept to see come to life on screen and on stage….Bubble Ball is hands-down the most unique fashion show!

The over-the-top LED display was complemented by an impressive light show. Matthew Clark’s lighting design added flair to the visual experience attendees have come to know and love through this epic fundraising event. With the visuals bumping along to the incredible song selections and live performances, each era in the fashion show was momentous to the hundreds in attendance.

With the professional collaboration between our crew and the teams with ChildServe, Dornink Couture, and Dotdash Meredith, this year’s Bubble Ball was unforgettable! The funds raised from this event allow ChildServe to create a #greatlife! Our Wired Production Group event professionals are honored to be a part of this impact.
