What You Need to Plan a Successful Political Event

Political events can be some of the most high-pressure events to plan and implement. Not only do you have to worry about all the details of the event itself, but you also have to worry about protocol, security and making sure everything goes smoothly for your candidate during the event.

Wired Production Group has extensive experience planning, coordinating and producing political events. We have the event planning knowledge, production talent and AV equipment to make your political event and – most importantly – your politician look like a rock star. Whether you’re having a presidential campaign rally or a campaign event for a mayoral candidate, our team can help you plan your political event, or we can be there to help you as technical producers and on-site staff.

We can manage everything from political debates, conventions, caucuses, fundraisers, political rallies, press conferences, televised media events and more anywhere in the United States. Our experienced political production event team will travel where YOU need us.

What Should You Look For in a Political Event Production Team?

The first step in any political event production is to develop a clear and concise plan. This plan should consider the goals and objectives of the event.

One of the next important steps is to source contractors. It’s essential to find an event production team with political event management experience as well as professional AV equipment and production experience.  This team will be responsible for setting up and running all the audio/visual elements of the event.

For you to have a successful event, it’s important that every person at the event can see and hear your candidate – so having professionals to operate quality AV equipment is crucial. Getting a professional production team on-site to “run the show” is a must.

Plus, finding a production team that can live stream the event so you can broaden your reach is a bonus! Live streaming your political event allows you to reach even more constituents and gets your candidate’s message out to an even larger audience!

So what should you look for when you are trying to find a political event production and AV company?

Here are a few things to consider:

  • A team with experience in political event production
  • A team with a robust inventory of AV equipment, including microphones, speakers, LED screens, live streaming capabilities so you can broaden your reach and more
  • A team that is willing to work within your budget to get the job done right
  • A team with a proven track record of success

On-Site Event and AV Professionals

When you’re planning your political event, make sure you plan your AV needs well ahead of time. If people can’t see your candidate or clearly hear the message, what’s the point?

When a politician’s team starts planning a local political event, they usually have a group of advisors to handle most of the event logistics, but they generally don’t have a technical producer on staff. (And, more importantly, they typically don’t have technical production professionals available on-site at the event venue.) That’s where we come in!

When you’re planning your candidate’s event, it’s important to have one technical point-of-contact for event production — that’s especially crucial for political events. That means the political team should hire a production team that can set up at the venue quickly and professionally. The event production company works directly with the campaign coordinators to give the candidate exactly what they’re looking for from their event.

Our team at Wired Production Group has extensive experience as political event points of contact and on-site technical AV producers.

If you’re looking for an on-site event technical production team, our experienced team is here to help!

Iowa: The Heart of Presidential Political Campaign Stops

Planning a presidential political event can be stressful, but it can also be fun and exciting. A presidential event can help you connect with voters and constituents, help you build a reputation as a political leader, gain supporters and raise money for your campaign. It also shows that you are serious about your presidential aspirations.

Iowa is one of the key states that Presidential candidates visit – and we know Iowa!

In 2012, President Obama’s re-election team made a stopover in Des Moines for a rally at the foot of the Capitol building. Our event production team was hired to create an LED wall and produce a live camera feed to the screens on stage for a street rally where thousands of supporters attended — as well as listened to a short performance by Bruce Springsteen.

The New York based Trump for President campaign group contacted Wired Production Group as a local resource to collaborate on the implementation of one of President Trump’s campaign rallies at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 2017. President Trump’s event had more than 6,000 in attendance. Our team supplied full-service event management, including staging, sound, lighting, and video gear in addition to a crew of technical operators.

We Can Manage All Sorts Of Political Events…

Whether you’re a Congressman up for re-election or a Senator dueling on-stage during a debate, we can help produce your political event. Our team has literally managed hundreds of live events.

In September 2019, our staff managed the video production and live stream of the LGBTQ Presidential Forum presented by The Advocate, The Gazette, GLAAD, and One Iowa. This event had hundreds in attendance and was broadcast live from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

During the two-hour event, ten Democratic presidential candidates spoke about their support for the LGBTQ community. At the event were Author Marianne Williamson, former Rep. Joe Sestak, former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Cory Booker, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, Sen. Kamala Harris, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and former HUD Secretary Julian Castro.
