How We Are Investing In Our Future Workforce
Wired Production Group spends countless hours each year supporting high school and college-age students interested in video and event production careers. Our staff of nearly 30 individuals with diverse backgrounds are encouraged to speak to our future workforce and show them what career opportunities are available to them across the entertainment industry. We are connected with future filmmakers, future theatrical lighting designers, future touring audio engineers, and future stage designers from high schools, colleges, and universities across the United States. We encourage students to contact us to schedule a job shadow, meet with our CEO, or connect with our staff to learn more about the industry. Workplace Learning Connection
As community partners for many years, Wired Production Group is proud to work with Workplace Learning Connection (WLC) to offer group job shadow opportunities. These job shadow days allow high school students to explore event and video production careers. Students from 10th through 12th grade in Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, or Washington counties in Iowa are eligible to apply through WLC.
The job shadow day Wired Production Group is led by the WPG leadership team. Our team speaks to the students about our company history, the variety of educational backgrounds our staff has, how our daily operations work, and how our company has grown. After a short tour of the office, our tech crew set up stations around the shop for students to learn about the technology and get hands-on experience with cameras, video switchers, audio and lighting consoles, and other event production tools.
Outside of careers in media production, WLC offers job shadow days in various industries, including business and finance, agriculture, manufacturing, nursing, human services, and information solutions. WLC is organized through Kirkwood Community College. To learn more or to apply for a job shadow day, please visit their website.
Internships
Wired Production Group offers a variety of internship opportunities for high school and college students in the summer months. Students are given the opportunity to join our crew as an AV intern, LED technology intern, or marketing intern. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the video and event production industries and all the fun that goes along with it! All internships at Wired Production Group are paid from May through August each year, with limited travel required.
